PONY-O Ponytail Holders Celebrates International Women's Day

We are strong. We are resilient. We are mothers. We are CEOs. We are women. Our intelligence and strength is admired, while our beauty and grace is desired.

Join PONY-O hair ties and the world in recognizing International Women’s Day, celebrating the leadership, strength, and courage of women and girls.

There are thousands upon thousands of women who have blazed trails that we might take for granted today. For example:

MARIE CURIE

Marie Curie was a Polish/French physicist who founded the new science of radioactivity, launching effective cures for cancer. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and is also the first person to garner a second Nobel Prize and win The Prize in two scientific fields.

ROSA PARKS

In 1955, Rosa Parks bravely challenged the race segregation that existed in parts of the US, specifically Montgomery, Alabama, by refusing to give up her seat on a bus so that a white person could sit down. Her protest sparked the Civil Rights Movement and she became known as the “Mother of the Civil Rights Movement”.

AMELIA EARHART

Amelia Earhart was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, in 1932. She broke many speed and flying records over the next five years, and in 1937, she began a flight around the world, becoming the first person to fly from the Red Sea (an inlet of Indian ocean between Africa and Asia)  to India, disappearing on July 2 of that year.

MOTHER TERESA

Mother Teresa was a Roman Catholic nun who lived in India for most of her life. She founded the Missionaries of Charities in 1950 and by 2013, there were over 700 missions operating in 130 countries. Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, giving the funds that accompany the award, to the poor. She was a living saint who offered a great example and inspiration to the world.

NICOL HARVIE, PONY-O INVENTOR

Nicol is one of the top female patent holders, for hair accessories, in the world. She has built her thriving business from the ground up, and is a role model for young women worldwide.

MORE ABOUT PONY-O

We are a women owned and operated company. We have built a workplace where women can thrive, and for more than 30 years, we have also been doing our part to fight stereotypes and discrimination in a male-dominated business, to give women a seat at the table as inventors and entrepreneurs (sometimes even forcibly taking the seat 🙌🏻 ).

We have brought about positive change by creating environmentally friendly, affordable hair accessories that are designed to be durable, secure, comfortable and non-damaging in every hair type. Moving away from plastic and elastic hair accessories decades ago has been visionary, because renewable hair accessories are better for our planet and ecosystem, leading to better living conditions worldwide.

Our goal is to give you the fullest, most beautiful ponytails and easy styles that can be done without a hairdresser. It may seem far-fetched or silly to some, but feeling good about yourself and elevating your style helps give you the confidence to venture out and be the beautiful, successful boss that you are.

To the women all over the world who unselfishly and tirelessly give of themselves and fight for change, we honor and thank you! Our world is a better place because of you. We stand with you to create a world where difference is valued and celebrated.

"The equitable participation of women in social, political, and economic life is critical to the peace and prosperity of our collective community."
-Anthony Blinken, US Secretary of State
