PONY-O Ponytail Holders: Treat Your Mom to a DIY Spa Day This Mother’s Day

PONY-O Ponytail Holders: Treat Your Mom to a DIY Spa Day This Mother’s Day

This past year has been hard on everyone, but especially moms. Between the stress of the virus, working from home, virtual schooling, and more, there hasn’t been a lot of time to practice self-care. But this Mother’s Day, you can give the mother in your life the gift of total relaxation with a DIY spa day at home. Give your mom the full treatment — hair, nails, facials, a massage. She deserves it!

If you don’t trust your own pampering skills, you can also book at-home treatments with companies like Glam Squad for blowouts or Soothe for massages.

But seriously, none of these DIY spa treatments are that hard. Check out some of the best at-home spa day ideas below to give your mom a break and remind her how much she’s appreciated.

1. Give the Gift of a Comfortable Ponytail That Lasts All Day Long With PONY-O

BUY PONY-O!

Pulling hair out of your face and into a ponytail can feel like a relief — that is, until it hurts. You know the feeling. So, skip regular elastics and try PONY-O, the most comfortable hair accessory for keeping a ponytail up all day long. It seriously feels like there’s nothing in your hair.

PONY-O easily bends hair into place without pulling on the hair follicle, while regular hair ties have to pull and squeeze hair to keep it up.

Even if you’ve booked mom a blow-out, PONY-O won’t crease or dent hair, so she can keep her style. The accessory is also non-damaging, so hair will remain healthy and painlessly out of the way for facials, workouts, makeovers and more.

2. Run a Luxurious Bubble Bath

Moms, especially new moms, hardly have time for a 10-minute shower, let alone a full-blow bath. This Mother’s Day, create a luxurious bubble bath for your mom with a bath bomb or bubble bar from Lush, lavender-scented candles, a new book, and a glass (or two) of champagne. Let mom soak for as long as she wants with no interruptions.

3. Whip Up a DIY Face Mask

You can find all types of face masks online and in stores, from charcoal to clay to oatmeal. But, you can also find tons of recipes online to make your own face mask at home with ingredients you may already have in your kitchen. That way, you know exactly what you’re putting onto yours and mom’s skin. Plus, it’s usually less expensive.

Try this DIY aloe vera mask by Byrdie, an oat and honey mask created by Kale & Caramel or even a traditional Indian Ubtan mask recommended by actress Priyanka Chopra.

Pull hair back with a PONY-O, apply a mask, and let it work its magic.

4. Take a Virtual Yoga or Meditation Class

Yoga and spa retreats can cost a pretty penny. But, you can help mom find her zen with a virtual yoga and meditation class. If it’s nice outside, set up a sunrise yoga flow or take it inside for a relaxing candle-lit session.

Go ahead and let mom lay in shavasana for as long as she wants.

5. Paint The Perfect Mani-Pedi

Give mom a pop of color on her hands and feet with an at-home manicure and pedicure. Soak, cut, file, push back cuticles and paint them the shade of her choice.

If you’re not great at coloring in the lines, you could also try using nail wraps or gel stickers. Unlike press-on nails, stickers can be cut to fit your own nails and last much longer. Brands like Dashing Diva, Artips, Scratch and ManiMe are easy to apply and make solid colors, classic French manicures and plenty of fun designs.

6. Give Mini Me Makeovers

If you have little ones, give each other makeovers you’ll always remember. Stock up on fun hair clips, lip gloss and water-based nail polish. You could even plan a shopping trip or let your mini me dress you with things already in your closet, and vice versa.

Plan a lunch outing to show off your new looks, or if you’re not feeling super confident about your finished look, set up a tea party with cucumber sandwiches at home.

7. Spray on a Tan For the Warmer Weather

Your mother probably told you to always wear sunscreen, and she’s right. But, you can still get a little color with the help of self-tanner.

One TikTok tanning hack that’s gone viral is placing your self-tanner in a misting spray bottle. This provides a more even tan. But still, you’ll need a little help with your back.

Put on an old swimsuit, pull your hair up and step outside or into the shower and give each other faux spray tans. You and your mom will look like you just stepped off South Beach Miami!

You could also gift your mom self tanning drops that mix with her regular lotion for a gradual glow without the funky smell.

8. Make (or Order) Her Favorite Meal (or Cocktail)

You might find salads and sandwiches at a regular spa, but yours can have whatever meal your mother likes. Kick off the day with a mimosa and breakfast in bed. For lunch, stick with lighter fare or opt for her favorite pasta, glass of wine and/or dessert.

If you’re not as good of a cook as her, you can always order take out too. It’s the thought that counts.

9. Give Mom Some “Peace and Quiet”

If you’ve ever heard your mother say, “I just need five minutes of peace and quiet,” give her the option this Mother’s Day. Help her out by running her errands and doing her chores. If there’s little one, take them out while she takes a long bath or has a nap.

You can give mom a real break from her ongoing to-do list so she really can have five minutes (or more) of uninterrupted quiet time.

This past year has been super hard on moms, including yours. Luckily, there are so many easy DIY spa treatments, but even trying one can help show your mom just how much you care.

So, pull up her hair with PONY-O, put up her feet, and make this Mother’s Day one she’ll never forget.
