DIY Pumpkin Hair Mask

DIY Pumpkin Hair Mask

Since fall is officially here an it's Pumpkin-everything-season, we thought, "why not a pumpkin hair mask?"  You'll need a whole cooked pumpkin, yogurt, coconut oil and honey. (Almost sounds good enough to eat). If you're pressed for time, and who isn't, you can substitute the whole pumpkin for canned pumpkin.

Pumpkin is rich in Vitamin A and Potassium and Coconut Oil is rich in fatty acids. Together with the probiotic-bomb yogurt and honey, which is rich in emollients, this mask can help increase the moisture of your hair, heal scalp inflammation, and help your hair grow healthier. Oh my gourdness! Who knew?

Blend the ingredients in a food processor or blender and apply to damp hair.  And since the idea of a mask is to increase the health of your hair, secure your style with the PONY-O. The silicone coating on the outside makes PONY-O pumpkin-proof and allows you to keep the mask on your hair longer so your hair can soak up all of those yummy nutrients without damage or creasing! Let it sit for 20 minutes. Wash out thoroughly using your everyday shampoo and conditioner.

So kick back, read a book, watch a movie...whatever you like to do in your spare time. And enjoy yourself. The recipe is below:

  • 1 whole cooked pumpkin OR 1 can pumpkin
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon yogurt

If you just have to have the Pumpkin spice smell in your life, add 1/2 tsp cinnamon to your mixture. Containing Vitamin C, riboflavin, thiamine, niacin, Vitamin A and protein, Cinnamon is a perfect spice for your hair, stimulating circulation, and has anti fungal properties that may help treat dandruff.
