PONY-O Ponytail Holders: Community Member Jen Bricker-Bauer's Incredible Olympic Story

If you follow the Olympics at all, you’ve may have heard the inspiring story of Jen Bricker-Bauer, the award-winning gymnast and aerialist who was born without legs. During her adolescence she made a shocking discovery: She was the biological sister of Olympic athlete Dominique Moceanu, who just happened to be her personal idol.

What you may not know about Jen is that she is a HUGE fan of PONY-O. As an athlete with gorgeous long hair, Jen needs secure and comfortable hairstyles that keep her hair up and out of the way while training or performing. We’re so excited that she uses PONY-O to keep her locks healthy and styled to perfection!

Jen’s Story

Jen was adopted as a baby and never knew her biological parents. Born without legs, her biological father decided they couldn’t afford the medical bills and had to give her up. She was raised with loving parents and three older brothers, and they all encouraged her to never give up and pursue her dreams, never letting her disability get in the way.

She defied the odds and became a successful gymnast and aerialist, even performing in the Britney Spears “Circus” tour!

It wasn’t until she was 16 that Jen discovered her connection to her idol, Dominique Monceanu. It took time for the two to reconnect, along with their third sister Christine, but once they did the three formed a close bond!

Jen’s brothers were amazed when they saw the sisters together for the first time. Dominique and Jen have so much in common, and it was impossible to deny their connection when seeing them interact.

Jen hasn’t just stopped at athleticism and sisterly fame - she’s also an international speaker and author, having published Everything is Possible: Finding Faith and Courage to Follow Your Dreams, back in 2017. She was so excited about this book because it wasn’t Jen the athlete, Jen the girl without legs, or Jen the long-lost sister of an Olympic athlete. This book allowed her to share who she was beyond just her story.
